Introduction
Titanium Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI – Extra Low Interstitial) is a medical grade titanium alloy and implant grade titanium conforming to ASTM F136 and AMS 4967 Titanium Bar. Also specified as UNS R56401 Titanium Alloy, Grade 23 Titanium Alloy, and Ti-6Al-4V ELI Titanium Alloy.
Compared to standard Grade 5, this biocompatible titanium alloy offers lower iron/oxygen/nitrogen for superior fracture toughness, fatigue resistance, and excellent corrosion resistance in physiological environments. It provides a high strength-to-weight ratio (40% lighter than steel), weldability, and good formability – ideal for long-term medical implants and aerospace components.
